Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 August 2026

This is a drafted starting point, not finished legal advice.

It has not been reviewed by a solicitor. Before relying on it for a real launch — especially one where children use live video with adult tutors and you take recurring payments — have it reviewed by a qualified UK solicitor, and fill in the bracketed placeholders (company details, contact information) with real values. See also the Privacy Policy and Safeguarding Policy.

1. Who we are

Avero Learning ("Avero Learning", "we", "us") operates an online tutoring platform providing AI-assisted learning and live tutoring in maths, physics, biology, and chemistry for primary and secondary school students, accessible at [avero-learning.co.uk — insert your registered domain]. Our registered company details are: [Company name] Ltd, company number [00000000], registered office [registered address]. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Avero Learning website and platform (the "Service").

2. Who can use Avero Learning

The Service is intended for use by school-age children under the supervision and consent of a parent or legal guardian, and by adult tutors and parents/guardians acting on a child's behalf. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must create or approve your account and agrees to these Terms on your behalf. If you are a parent or guardian creating an account for a child, you confirm you have the authority to do so and accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy on their behalf. Tutors registering to teach on the platform must be at least 18 years old.

3. The Service

Avero Learning provides, subject to the plan you subscribe to:

  • An AI tutor chat, AI-generated practice quizzes, and an AI homework helper;
  • Written lesson content across maths, physics, biology, and chemistry;
  • A directory of independent tutors available to book for live 1-1 sessions; and
  • A shared video and whiteboard classroom for live sessions.

AI-generated content is produced by a third-party AI model and, while designed to be accurate and age-appropriate, may occasionally be incomplete or contain errors. It is not a substitute for professional educational assessment, and a responsible adult should review AI-generated output where appropriate.

4. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Tell us immediately at [support email] if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.

5. Subscriptions, billing, and cancellation

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance via our payment processor, Stripe. By subscribing, you authorise us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account's billing page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide partial refunds for unused time within a period except where required by law. If you are a consumer in the UK, you may have a 14-day right to cancel a new digital subscription under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, except to the extent you have already used the Service during that period with your express consent to lose that right — [confirm this section with a solicitor before relying on it]. Prices may change with reasonable advance notice.

Individual live tutor sessions booked outside a bundled plan are charged at the tutor's published hourly rate. [Confirm and describe the actual payment mechanism and cancellation/no-show policy for individual bookings once built.]

6. Tutors and live sessions

Tutors on Avero Learning are independent contractors, not our employees. We take reasonable steps to vet tutors before they can be booked, including requiring an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check certificate reference, as described in our Safeguarding Policy. We do not guarantee the conduct, qualifications, or performance of any individual tutor beyond this vetting process, and are not liable for a tutor's acts or omissions except to the extent required by law. Report any concern about a tutor immediately using the process in our Safeguarding Policy.

Live sessions take place through our in-platform video and whiteboard tools only. Contacting another user outside the platform, or attempting to take a session outside the platform, is not permitted.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in a way that harms another user, particularly a child;
  • Attempt to bypass tutor vetting, safeguarding, or account controls;
  • Upload content you don't have the right to share, or that is abusive, obscene, or infringing;
  • Scrape, resell, or use the Service to train a competing product; or
  • Interfere with the Service's security or normal operation.

8. Intellectual property

Lesson content, AI tool outputs generated for you, and the Avero Learning platform itself remain our property or that of our licensors. You may use lesson content and your own AI outputs for personal, non-commercial study.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. [This clause needs solicitor review — liability limits for a service involving children require particular care.]

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms, particularly any breach involving safeguarding, at any time and, where practical, with notice. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date, and where changes are material we'll make reasonable efforts to notify account holders directly.
