Fractions Basics
A fraction represents a part of a whole. It has a numerator (top number) and a denominator (bottom number).
Equivalent fractions
1/2 is the same amount as 2/4 or 4/8 — multiply the top and bottom by the same number to find an equivalent fraction.
Adding fractions with the same denominator
1/5 + 2/5 = 3/5 — just add the numerators and keep the denominator the same.
