Cell Biology

All living things are made of cells — the basic building blocks of life.

Animal vs plant cells

Both have a nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane. Plant cells additionally have a cell wall, chloroplasts (for photosynthesis), and a large vacuole.

Specialised cells

Cells specialise for their job — red blood cells carry oxygen, nerve cells transmit electrical signals, and muscle cells contract to create movement.
